Global Warming

I've always been sceptical about the whole global warming theory. Here on the Costa del Sol it's extremely rare to have rain and cool temperatures in August. In fact the average number of rainy days in August here is 0. This summer, however, we have had a little rain and cooler temperatures.

Might not sound very strange but this is a region that "they" the scientists have said will suffer from severe drought and high temperatures due to global warming.

I'll quickly outline why I don't think global warming (if it is real) is caused by human activities.

Firstly and foremost approximately 3/4 of the earth's surface is water. If you try to imagine what this means in terms of volume, the amount of volume taken up by humans is insignificant compared to the volume of water on the planet.

Another important thing to consider, if something causes the planet to heat up, be it humans or the sun or whatever, the amount of water vapour will increase (the water must go somewhere it doesn't just dissappear). With more water in the atmosphere this means more clouds and with more clouds more sunlight will be reflected away from the planet thus causing a cooling effect. I believe the earth has a very powerful regulating mechanism because of the amount of water in our atmosphere and on the planet.

In my opinion, the biggest ecological problem is deforestation. Changing the earth's surface will affect our living conditions. CO2 emissions are insignificant if we have enough vegetation to take care of that. More should be done to stop deforestation and modernised countries need to repopulate the earth by making trees part of our living areas. Parks isn't enough.

Another key misconception I wish to address in this post is life and heat. You will hear some "experts" say how high temperatures will diminish life on the planet. However, the opposite is true. Life thrives in higher temperatures. Warmer climate will mean more plants, longer living reptiles and more life in general.
